CAF threaten to ban two Uganda clubs

The Confederation of African football (CAF) could lock Uganda clubs from the 2012 continental tournaments.

The club embroilled in the muddle include League champions Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and Military side Simba FC.

However, the two clubs have failed to meet not CAF, but FUFA requirement to deposit $10000 with the local federation before they can be submitted for registration in the Orange Champions League and the Orange Confederations Cup.

FUFA put in place the condition as a deterrent measure for clubs that often left the federation with the burden to meet CAF fines related to their participation.

SC Villa’s last minute withdrawal from Orange Confederations Cup in 2010 which cost FUFA a fine of $3000 while the federation footed another fine of $5000 for KCC fans indiscipline in South Africa during a match against Super Sport FC in 2009.

FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa  confirmed on thursday evening that they think URA and Simba could have lost interest in their respective tournaments.

“FUFA is under CAF instruction to submit the Clubs details to Cairo shortly and the clubs should respond by Friday October 21 or else FUFA will take appropriate action,” Mulindwa warned.

Both teams play their first matches on the second weekend February 2012.

Bunamwaya SC failed to register for the Confederation of African Football Champions League last year, Ugandans never took it lightly.
