CHAN Orange 2011/Quarterfinals: Niger Humble
Only West African country qualified for the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) Orange, Niger awaiting the battle against Sudan, the host country, keeps a cool head.
“It was naturally difficult against Ghana, but we never lost hope to end the match with a win. As for Sudan during the quarterfinals we will play as we did it since the beginning of the competition with humility and desire to win”. These are the words of the coach of Mena of Niger Harouna Doula with all due modesty. As their coach, the players show their humility without fearing their opponent: «We all dreamt about going through the first round, without much conviction to avoid being viewed as pretentious. When we arrived in Khartoum we played a test match against El Merreikh that we won. Is it a sign before facing Sudan in the quarterfinals? I think we have our chance even before the host country. Anyway, we will fight to win” the captain Idrissa Laouali said.
Note that Mena Niger housed in group B recorded 2wins with the same score against Zimbabwe and Ghana. A loss (1-2) before South Africa.
