Cameroon: 201 Medals In 2011
Cameroonian athletes registered great performances in 2011with a total number of 201 medals in international Competitions. This revelation was made last Friday in Yaoundé by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Adoum Garoua in an evaluation meeting.
Cameroonian athletes registered great performances in 2011with a total number of 201 medals in international Competitions. This revelation was made last Friday in Yaoundé by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Adoum Garoua in an evaluation meeting.
In 2011, Cameroon took part in about 40 international competitions in various disciplines and came out with 72 gold, 59 silver and 70 bronze; making a total of 201 medals.
Minister Adoum Garoua lauded the athletes for their success and called on them to work harder in order to make more achievements in 2012, especially at the upcoming Olympic Games in London.
Some of the disciplines which have qualified so far for the Olympics include: female football, air sports, table tennis and athletics. Ten other disciplines are still to play their own qualifiers.
