Angola : Female team praised for impressive 2012
The African title won by the national basketball female team, in Bamako, Mali, which guaranteed the presence of Angola, for the first time, in the Olympic Games, marked the events in this sport in 2011.
Another highlight for this year that nears its end is the loss of some hegemony of the national senior males basketball team, who lost to Tunisia in the final of the 2011 African championship and missed the pass to the Olympic Games, after 20 years of regular presence in that competition. Against all odds, the national female basketball team managed the win the continental cup for the first time, thus securing the presence in the London Olympic Games scheduled for 2012.
Meanwhile, the Angolan senior males basketball team still have the hope to participate in the London Olympic Games, since they will dispute the pre-Olympic tournament that qualifies other teams for the Olympic competition.
