Unlike men, African women performed well by placing three of them in the Top 8 of a very tough Paris tournament. Haddad, Miled and Niang took the fifth place. The Algerian Soraya Haddad proved equal to herself. As was her habit, she almost enter the last four. This time, she was narrowly prevented by the Cuban Bermov Acosta. One could say the same about the Tunisian Houda Miled whose progress is remarkable. The real surprise is the work of Asmaa Niang that was not expected at such a good feast. The Moroccan was stopped in her good move by the future gold medalist of the Paris tournament, Japanese Yoriko Kunihara. Niang, Haddad and Miled scored precious points in the perspective of the 2012 London Olympics.
