Judo/Tunisia/Houda Miled: Ambition portrayed
The fifth place acquired by the judoka Houda Miled in the Paris Grand Prix is a continuation of what Tunisian has been doing in the past three years.
At Bercy, in a pack full room , the current African champion narrowly failed in the quarter-final against the local star and future finalist of the Grand Slam, the Frenchwoman Lucie Decosse. She remains in the top 5 especially after making the show a week earlier in Sofia in a beautiful event of the world championship. In the Bulgarian capital, the native of Tunis scored many points: literally and figuratively. Her opponents will remember her fearsome efficiency namely the Moroccan Asmaa Niang, the Japanese world champion Karen Nunira (semifinal) and the Mongolian Tsen Dayasuch Noranjardai (final), all defeated by ippon. But for the keen followers of business judo, Houda Miled's talent does not date back to Sofia and Paris 2012. Indeed, after having collected the national, regional, and continental titles among others between 2002 and 2005, Tunisia made sensation in 2006 at the Under 20 years World championship of Santo Domingo, by snatching the bronze medal in the less than 78 kg. And to show that it was not a flash in the pan, it did it once more three years later in the senior World Championships in Rotterdam (Netherlands). After making a great course until 2009 in the category of less than 78 kilos, the Tunisian lost weight and develop her technique to impose herself in less than 70 kg. A great performance at this level of competition. Today, at the age of sports maturity (25 years), Houda Miled can be proud of her record since she has seven African titles, three medals in the events of the World Championship and Grand Prix as well as four success in international tournaments. Titles which did much more good. This accumulation of experience in all latitudes help her to confront without complex and overcome champions from Japan, Italy, France, Spain or Mongolia. It is with this great capital that she hopes to win her place in the London Olympics and will not be a mere participant, in fact, targeting a place on the podium and entering in fine in the legend. For if the Tunisian Judo experienced the exhilaration of victories and podiums at the world championships - seven in total including a title won by Anis Lounifi in 2001 – it is still waiting for an Olympic medal.
