Kenya Athlete Jelimi seeking to make a comeback
After a string of poor results, Kenya Olympic 800m champion Pamela Jelimo is seeking to make a comeback on the track and reclaim her lost glory with her selection in Kenya’s team for IAAF World Indoor Championships to be held in Istanbul, Turkey on March 9 – 12.
Jelimo who has struggled to find her form for the last three years seems to be slowly easing back to her imperious best this season.
Just days after an impressive indoor debut in the 1500m(4:07.11) where she placed second, though she was later disqualified for running too early inside the track, the 22 year old hit a sub- 2 minute in the World indoor meet in the French city of Lievin, a week ago in the 800m
race.
Jelimo signalled her intent to defend her title from Beijing placing second 1:59.10 behind the reiging Arab Games champion Moroccan Malika Akkaoui(1:59.01).
“This year the selected team is regarded as the strongest team ever selected following the IAAF ranking, said Athletics Kenya (AK) Public Relations Officer (PRO) Peter Angwenyi when releasing the names of the squad.
