In pole position in the race to replace Peter de Villiers as coach of the Springboks, Heyneke Meyer would really like to get the second back row of the scrum, Victor Matfield (34). In fact, if his candidature should be retained, Heyneke would globally extend a hand to some key players who have gone abroad after announcing their international retirement. On his part, the former captain of the Springboks, now the forwards’ coach of the Province of Pretoria, left room for dialogue by saying: "Let's wait for the appointment of Heyneke, then we'll talk about all that." Furthermore Matfield, the scrumhalf Fourie du Preez, 30, who chose to have a professional experience in Japan, is also concerned by this call to comeback.
