Pacifique
From a young age, with the help of their mentor Bakary Diallo, these 3 artists from Kati threw themselves into the jungle movement of Malian rap. Beginning in 2003 the group was baptized the ‘Pacifique’, and gradually progressed, strengthened and affirmed their talent.
Often in spite of criticisms, these grassroots artists quickly climbed the ranks thanks to their know-how and life skills. Braving everything, they won over music lovers with the flavor of their voices, the sweetness of their rhythm and especially the poetry of their themes. It was in 2005 at their very first concert at Ciné-Lafia that they exploded on stage. For a debut, it was a stroke of brilliance. The audience was transported by the vocal mastery of Mariam Kone (Marko), Boubou Traore (Boutrass) and especially the meticulous presence of their spiritual leader Bakary Diallo aka Morikè.
In 2005, Pacifique won the first prize in the Maxi-vacances show of ORTM which saw more than 20 Malian rap groups compete. This title was the yeast in the dough as it led to the creation of the punchy and sizzling album, ‘Vie’. Then came invitations to concerts and galas with the likes of, « Yéli Fuzo », « Deski la Bombe », « Tata pound », « Ramses » « Astan Kida ». The Reggae-Raga festival, ‘Hip Hop et Tradition’ organized by Esprit d’Ebène at Ciné-Lafia, had the great idea to present Pacifique on stage with « Al Peco » ; « Deski la bombe », « Vitaa » et « Sefye ».
Pacifique also takes advantage of every opportunity to educate, help and inspire like the ‘Colloque Rwanda’ which saw the participation of 2 members of the group. As well as participating in live telethon shows by ORTM where the profit goes to school fees for children of parents with HIV.
The new album
From an instrumental point of view it is a true adaption between tradition and modernity but also by the themes addressed; the search of equilibrium in a destabilized world, with society going off the rails and the economic and political challenges ahead.
The album also includes many gifted instrumentalists such as: Adama Yalomba (Kamalen Koni and flén: calabash), Mahamadou Diabate (Kora), Harouna Samake (Kamalen Koni), Mahamane Diabate (Kamalen Koni and Balafon), Mahamadou Doumbia (Guitar).
